People at Work closes 2 October 2026

People at Work is closing on 2 October 2026: what to do now

Access to the People at Work platform ends on Friday 2 October 2026. Export your reports now. Your duty to manage psychosocial risk doesn’t end with it.

Export the PAW reports before Friday. Raw answers are not available. MYSAE Workforce is not a validated survey and not a PAW replacement instrument.

What the closure means for you

Access ends 2 October 2026. Export your PAW reports before Friday 2 October 2026, because raw data cannot be downloaded and remaining data will be removed from the platform. Your psychosocial duty is unchanged. You will need a new way to identify and assess risk, plus an ongoing signal between assessments.

Key dates

1 June 2026: Last day to register a new organisation on the platform.

1 Jul 2026: Last day to launch a new survey.

2 October 2026: Last day organisations can access the platform. Export reports before then.

Sources do not state a cut-off time or time zone. Export by Thursday 1 October rather than waiting for Friday.

Export your PAW reports before Friday: step by step

Export your PAW reports before Friday 2 October 2026. These steps follow the WorkSafe Queensland export guide.

1. Go to https://www.peopleatwork.gov.au/.

2. Click the icon in the top-right corner and select Sign in.

3. Enter your account details and click Sign in. You will land on the home page.

4. Click My surveys to see your previous surveys and reports.

5. On the Surveys home screen, go to Reports and click Overview or Comprehensive.

6. The PDF report loads in the bottom-left of the screen. Open it or save it.

7. For industry benchmarking, click View Benchmarks. Benchmark data can be printed.

Tip from us, not official: download both Overview and Comprehensive for every survey. Save or print benchmarks to PDF. File them in your WHS document system with the export date.

Three things to do now

Three separate jobs. A survey platform closing touches the first two. Only the third is ours.

Before 2 October: export your reports. Log in to People at Work, close any survey still open, and download every report. Raw answers are not available, so the reports are what you keep. File them with your risk register as the record of that assessment.

Your next assessment: pick a validated survey. A survey is a point-in-time assessment. For the next one, use a validated instrument your regulator points to. MYSAE is not one of them.

Between surveys: keep monitoring. A survey tells you how things stood on the day. Between surveys you still need a living source. That is the two-tap, not a new questionnaire.

Why PAW is closing

The decommissioning was decided at national level. The platform would have needed changes to cover additional hazards in the model Code, including sexual harassment and isolated work. Response rates had declined. Users wanted more detailed reports. A redesign would have needed dedicated investment, and newer evidence-based tools are shorter and more precise.

What to use next for your psychosocial risk assessment

No single tool meets the duty. WorkSafe ACT lists external products. They are not endorsed by that page, and they are not MYSAE.

APHIRM toolkit. External product. Check fit for your workforce.

PHReD-T. External product. Check fit for your workforce.

ADDRESS. Listed for public servants. External product.

COPSOQ III. External product. Check fit for your workforce.

WorkSafe Queensland psychosocial risk assessment tool. Template. External product, not an endorsement.

What runs between surveys

A periodic survey is a snapshot. The duty still includes monitoring and reviewing controls. Between surveys, MYSAE’s two-tap check-in is the ongoing live source. It gives aggregate, thresholded crew trends, with small groups suppressed, and an action log.

Where MYSAE fits, and where it doesn’t

MYSAE Workforce is not a validated survey and is not a replacement for People at Work. Use a validated instrument for your formal assessment. Use MYSAE for the continuous signal and dated action trail between assessments. It does not guarantee compliance.

Each day a worker answers two questions in about ten seconds: how they’re doing, and how the site’s doing. If they want to, they flag up to two of six drivers (fatigue, job demands, roster and hours, workplace conflict, gear and resources, support and off-site). No name goes on the answer. Leaders see an aggregate crew signal only once enough people have answered, never one person’s check-in.

When the signal moves, the leader logs what they did about it and comes back to the trend. That dated record sits beside your survey reports, not in place of them.

It is a supporting signal, not a legal, clinical, insurance, or compliance guarantee, and no tool satisfies the duty on its own. Check your own regulator’s guidance for the assessment it expects.

FAQ

When does People at Work close?

Organisations can access the platform until 2 October 2026. Reports must be extracted before then. New surveys stopped on 1 Jul 2026 and new registrations on 1 June 2026.

Can I still download my PAW data after 2 October?

No. Export generated reports (Overview and Comprehensive PDFs, plus benchmarks) before access ends. Raw survey data was never downloadable, and remaining data will be removed from the platform.

How do I export my PAW reports?

Sign in at peopleatwork.gov.au, open My surveys, go to Reports, and click Overview or Comprehensive to save each PDF. Use View Benchmarks to print benchmark data.

Why is PAW being decommissioned?

Regulators decided nationally that PAW would need redesign to cover hazards such as sexual harassment and isolated work, response rates had declined, and newer, shorter tools exist.

Does PAW closing change my legal obligations?

No. You still have to identify, assess, control and review psychosocial risks. In WA that is under the WHS (General) Regulations 2022, rr 55C–55D.

What can I use instead?

Regulators point to options including COPSOQ III, APHIRM, PHReD-T, ADDRESS (public sector) and WorkSafe Queensland’s psychosocial risk assessment tool. Those are external products. Check which fits your workforce.

Is MYSAE a replacement for People at Work?

No. MYSAE Workforce is not a validated survey and is not a replacement for People at Work. It is a two-tap check-in that gives an ongoing, aggregate signal and action trail between formal assessments.

What should I do between annual surveys?

Keep monitoring, and review controls when things change. Between surveys, MYSAE’s two-tap check-in is the ongoing live source. See the construction example.
